On a regular basis, we receive questions about our Custom CD services. Here's answers to the most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
Q: Why must "original" pre-recorded sources be supplied to create a disc?
A: Unlike other custom disc web sites, we do not own or licence any music copyrights, thus cannot use material from our musical library. The purpose of our recording service is to provide clients with different Custom CD Options to create audio discs utilizing their own personal music collection. Please note: All supplied sources are returned with each order.
Q: Do you use a software program during the digital transfer process?
A: No filter or software program is used. For "digital" transfers (from CD to CD), the sound quality is identical. For "analog" sources (from cassette and/or vinyl), the sound will be the same, meaning hiss, pops and/or scratchs will be transfered. For the most part, if the sound of the original source is good, the Custom CD will be as good. Q: How long does it take to process a Custom CD order?
A: Typically a *single disc* order from "digital" sources requires two to three working days to complete after it's received. However, "analog" and larger "digital" disc orders take longer to process. For an exact turnaround time, please Contact HB *before* you send an order. Please note: "Digital" sources refers to CDs only.
Q: What does the term "Referenced Source" mean on your Custom CD Track Listing worksheet form?
A: A referenced source refers to "where" the track is located. Occasionally a track will appear more than once on a release, or numerous times on a provided pre-recorded source. CD Singles frequently include several different mixes of the same song. An example "Track Listing" would be:
Song Title Time Artist / Referenced Source 1. London Song 3:38 Ray Davies / Storyteller, Track 6 2. Love Shack (A Cappella) 3:54 The B-52's / CD Single, Track 5 Q: What's the difference between Shipping -and- Return Postage?
A: The flat $5.00 shipping rate is to cover the cost of packaging and mailing a custom disc order -and- supplied music sources up to 3 lbs. Return Postage is only required to send back provided sources that exceed 3 lbs. For more mailing information, visit the Shipping Info page. Please note: Orders are shipped via U.S. Postal Service "Priority Mail" with Delivery Confirmation.
Q: Do you provide large duplication quantities of Custom CDs?
A: We specialize in creating one-of-a-kind discs. However, we can create quantities of 50-150 for wedding favors at lower duplication rates. Also, there are several audio production companies to chose from that provide higher volume dubbing services. To view a current listing on the web, go to the Yahoo! Duplication page for direct site links.
